DOCUMENTATION FOR YOUR TEAM
Keep the manual close at hand.
Request the BRAIN SMU manual. BRAIN reviews your request and sends the appropriate documentation personally.
MULTIPLE PRODUCTS. ONE OVERVIEW.
From live readings to useful history.
BRAIN SMU collects data from connected vessel and piping controllers and presents it in its own browser interface.
Installation overview
Vessel cards show level, temperatures and state. Piping cards bring together temperature, requests, schedules and permission. Counters show which controllers are online, offline or need attention.
Search and status filters
Find the right controller or filter by All, Alarm, Warning, Offline and Filling. Switch quickly between a full overview and a focused selection.
Details and 24-hour trends
Open a card for readings, process state, communication and the available trend over the last 24 hours. Additional IO and sensor information supports investigation by BRAIN Service.
Alarms and event history
Active alarms and warnings are recognisable through both colour and text. Alarm history records activation and recovery as ON and OFF events, with the controller and time.
Alarm and recovery emails
With a mail server and recipients configured, the SMU can send alarm and recovery messages. Settings determine which notifications and repeat messages are sent.
Monthly reports
View a monthly report as HTML or PDF with the available measurement and alarm data. Email delivery and scheduled monthly emails are configurable functions.
HOW INFORMATION IS BUILT UP
Measure, collect and review.
The live card and history have the same source: data made available by the connected controller and touchscreen.
- 01
Measure at the equipment
The local controller provides readings, state, alarms and contact information.
Source: controller and touchscreen - 02
Collect in SMU
The server receives the messages and associates them with a recognisable controller card.
Transfer through the configured network - 03
Record and review
Recorded readings and alarm events form the basis for trends and reports.
Available history and timestamps - 04
Follow up
The user investigates a deviation and can discuss the data with BRAIN Service.
Optional: configured alarm emails
History starts when the server begins recording data. N/A, offline status and missing readings are assessed accordingly. A report gives insight into the available data; it does not replace local checks at the equipment.
DAILY USE
From an overview to the right question.
- 01
Start with the whole installation
Check the counters and confirm that the expected controllers are present.
- 02
Select a product
Use the search or a status filter and open the corresponding card.
- 03
Read the value and the trend
Compare the state, alarm message and trend; check the local controller display if needed.
- 04
Record the next step
Use history and reports for assessment, maintenance or discussion with BRAIN Service.
Colour supports the text. A filter or status card does not start filling and is not feedback of a physical valve position.

Discover the SMUControl takes place in the controller. In connected installations, the SMU can also coordinate requests and permissions between vessels and piping. Connections and enabling conditions are agreed for each installation.
Network and access
The dashboard is available on the local server display and through an approved browser within the configured network. Availability, user arrangements and any remote access are agreed with the site.
Permission and building signals
Connected installations exchange filling requests and piping permissions. Building contacts, alarm integration and operating conditions are configured and checked for the installation.
